Italy travel: Milan's Duomo First steps inside Milan's Duomo. Awe inspiring! Fortunately, this church allowed photography inside, so the camera can linger on the multiple 80 foot high stained glass windows. Perspective in the camera fails almost completely - you really must let Perillo take you there in person! (2:50) Send this video to a friend. Leave/View Comments |

Italy travel: The Altar of Milan's Duomo Most of our Perillo Familia sits in quiet amazement in the presence of the altar of Milan's Duomo. The architectural wonders that are the pillars of this structure are huge, and have been standing thru earthquakes and wars for hundreds of years. (2:26) Send this video to a friend. Italy travel: Milan Duomo Stained Glass Stories Our Perillo guide explained the stories portrayed by the stained glass of Milan's Duomo. In the days before literacy was common, these picture stories were vitally important. From the Perillo website: "The Milan Duomo is the third largest church in the world and can seat 40,000 worshippers. Its style is a mixture of Gothic and Baroque elements as its construction took several centuries to complete. Inside and out, people stare in amazement at the beauty of the large number of spires, statues, gargoyles, stained glass, and turrets. The marble Tomb of Giacomo de Medici sits in the southern part of the church while high above looms a golden Madonna." (1:42) Send this video to a friend. Leave/View Comments |

Italy travel: Milan Italy Galleria Square The square between the Duomo and the Galleria. Here we see a pan of the square, closeup of the Duomo's front door including a spot that has been rubbed shiny over the years by students hoping for good grades on their tests. The front side of the Duomo was undergoing renovations and was covered in scaffolding. (2:40) Send this video to a friend. Leave/View Comments |

Italy travel: Inside Milan's Galleria For good luck, you can spin counter clockwise in the bull's scrotal area? Most of our Perillo Familia is visible here, and a few actually go for a spin. We're on our way to Milan's La Scala Theater via a statue of Leonardo. (2:13) Send this video to a friend. Leave/View Comments |

Italy travel: Milan's La Scala Opera House First, a statue dedicated to Leonardo and four of his students on the backside of Milan's Galleria. Crossing the street in Italy was part of the fun of our Perillo Familia adventure. All of the best opera singers for generations have played the famous La Scala Opera House in Milan, Italy. The history of La Scala, also know as the behind-the-scenes stories, was material for many a hi-class soap opera. The main seating are of La Scala was not lit well enough to properly show the two story high Royal Box Seating. (2:11) Send this video to a friend. Leave/View Comments |

Italy travel: Milan City Architecture Tour Such interesting buildings. Such a diversity of styles. The graffiti is most unfortunate, and the "from the bus" footage is not quite National Geographic style, but you get the flavor of this classic Italian town. Perillo's 48 passenger bus did negotiate these little streets with the deftness of a Smart Car, thanks to our driver Lorenzo. (1:55) Send this video to a friend. Leave/View Comments copyleft |
