The pantheon is built as a tribute to ALL the Roman gods, named for the days of the week. The explanation/translation made more sense when the days of the week were said in Italian, but Saturday was for Saturn, Sunday was for the Sun, etc. There were more interesting facts presented by our Perillo Tours guide than could possibly be recounted in one short video. The statues undergoing restoration outside Piazza Navona's church will be worth another look when they are completed. The relatively minor fountain/statue at one end of Piazza Navona was impressive enough! Walking back to our Perillo Tours bus for transport back to the hotel, every turn produces a new and wonderful discovery. You literally can't just look left and right without seeing something historical or impressive, as the video shows.
